In the months of February and March, British Columbia Minister of Finance Michael de Jong, Alberta Minister of Finance Doug Horner and Saskatchewan Finance Minister Ken Krawetz presented the 2014 budgets for their respective provinces. Following in the footsteps of the Federal government, all three provinces focused on designing balanced budgets with limited tax increases. The budgets therefore included very few new programs and limited increases in spending.
We present in our article the main features of these budgets focusing on aspects that may affect private pension and health & welfare plans and the provincial government benefits provided in each provinces.
