Human Resources and Payroll Administrator

Location: Vancouver

PBI Actuarial Consultants Ltd. is currently seeking a Human Resources and Payroll Administrator to join our team.

Tasks and responsibilities

  • Provide administrative support to the Finance and Human Resources department
  • Responsible for the Payroll and Benefits Administration with semi-monthly payroll for approximately 100 (salaried) employees
  • Prepare and process year-end payroll, including T4s
  • Assist with the processing of benefit plans for all eligible employees
  • Maintain HRIS system ensuring accuracy of records across all offices
  • Participate in staff recruitment (phone interviews, scheduling)
  • Coordinate the onboarding process for new hires (schedule orientation, training plans, collaborate with other managers)
  • Keep Emergency Response Team up to date and ensure all participants have appropriate training
  • Generate and create reports as required
  • Assist in other projects as assigned


  • High School Diploma or equivalent
  • 3 or more years’ experience with payroll
  • Knowledge of Ceridian an asset but not required
  • Strong accuracy and attention to detail is a must
  • Strong knowledge of Microsoft Office with intermediate to advanced Excel Skills
  • Strong organizational skills and ability to multi-task
  • Strong verbal and written English and French communication skills
  • Understanding the importance of discretion in confidentiality
  • Ability to work independently as well as part of a team

Terms and conditions of employment

  • Permanent position
  • 40-hour weekly schedule
  • Salary will be based on experience and our internal policy in force
